Tropical Storm Debby Approaching Hurricane Status with 70 mph Winds

Tropical Storm Debby is just a stone’s throw from becoming a hurricane, forecasters said, with winds of up to 70mph.

Debby in the tropical storm category also has the potential of intensifying into a hurricane since it is already at a maximum wind speed of 70 mph. While crossing the gulf waters and gradually shifting northwards Debby is forecast to grow rapidly and will maybe transform into a hurricane by the night. It is further expected to intensify to more than a Category 1 hurricane before it reaches the Florida Big Bend area on Monday morning at 7 a. m. ET with winds expected to be around 85mph and potentially poss gusting over 100 mph.

Cedar is 125 miles east of Debby, when Debby is about 90 miles southwest of Cedar.
