NEW DELHI: The recent air crash in Arunachal Pradesh which resulted in the death of 13 personnel on board notwithstanding, IAF’s AN-32 fleet is completely airworthy, the government declared in the Upper House on Monday.
“I want to assure the House that our AN-32 fleet is airworthy and there was no problem. This incident happened, which is very unfortunate,” defence minister Rajnath Singh told the Rajya Sabha, adding that the average accident rate has actually gone down from 1.04 per 10,000 flying hours in 1999 to 0.52 in 2004. This further reduced to 0.46 in the next five years and currently it is at 0.33 per 10,000 flying hours.
